Celebrate November’s Season of Giving in Washington, DC

There are so many opportunities for giving year-round in the DC area. With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching the focus is greater on helping the underprivileged and others in need around our communities. From fundraisers and galas to volunteering opportunities, there’s no gift too small to make a difference in bettering the lives of others.

Galas raise money for great causes. The holiday season’s focus on celebrations makes it a great time to have fundraising events which appeal to everyone. Galas offer a night out in a fantastic venue, amazing food and entertainment and all the proceeds go to raise money and awareness for area charities.

The 2018 Passion for Caring Gala is hosted by Capital Caring on November 17 at the Marriott Marquis. Capital Caring will use all proceeds from the gala to benefit their Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Care Program. The event will feature a cocktail reception, live music, dancing and dinner along with both silent and live auctions. The evening highlight will focus on the impact the community has had on the programs offered by Capital Caring.

United Soldiers and Sailors of America presents their 5th Anniversary USASOA Honoring our Heroes Rooftop Benefit, November 17th from 7-10pm. This event is overlooking the US Capital and Washington Monument for an evening of music, dancing and delicious food along with a silent auction filled with wonderful items donated by local restaurants and other business to raise money for military and veteran services. USASOA offers outreach support and services for the homeless and hungry veterans in our community, including food, water, clothing and warmth.

These are just a couple of the many fundraising events WDC organizations offer to support the ongoing services to those in need while offering education of their services in a gala setting.

Volunteering for charitable causes is a way to help give back with no cost other than your time. With so many people in great need of help and support services, many non-profit organizations are looking for people willing to lend a helpful hand. Volunteering is a wonderful way to get the whole family involved in the spirit of giving together.

The Arlington County Homeless Services Center provides free training for their volunteers. Two volunteer orientations will be held in November on the 5th and 17th.
