Top Five Reasons to Buy Real Estate in Arlington and Alexandria

Three neighborhoods in Arlington County and Alexandria are set to be redeveloped and will get a new name as Amazon headquarters moves in. Crystal City, Pentagon City and Potomac Yard together, will now be called National Landing. National Landing is one of the two new headquarters picked by Amazon. The technology giant moving in will positively affect property values in the area. Now’s the time to invest in property around the Metro WDC region.

Here are five top reasons why:

  • Interest rates are still reasonable for home buyers. According to the website, the worry of expected rises in interest rates is having a positive affect. Because of this, buyers and sellers are more willing to compromise. Sellers are realizing that their buying power could be less once they sell; selling quickly will be more beneficial than waiting. Buyers feeling the same pull of the purse strings are looking to negotiate quickly so they can get the best possible rate.
  • You can buy now. There are 40,000 real estate units that will become available in National Landing, in addition to what’s currently on the market. Home prices are expected to rise as the Amazon HQ moves in. Prices have already increased in the past year. According to NVAR, compared to 2017, prices increased by over 3.16 percent. Now’s the time to buy before prices rise again.
  • People will be moving to National Landing and the region. The new Amazon HQ will bring 10,000 new jobs and $3.4 billion dollars in revenue. This added demand and purchase power guarantees that real estate prices will rise. Not everyone will be moving into National Landing though, areas all around Arlington County and Alexandria are expected to see an influx of home buyers over the next several years; buy now to get into the neighborhood you want or invest now so you can sell later as the demand is expected to continue to grow.
  • New retail and recreational spaces are currently being built. JGB, a construction giant, is transforming Crystal City into National Landing by taking on unfinished development projects. One of these spaces will be Central District Retail which will include an Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and over 130,000 square feet of space for future stores and businesses.
  • The city already has amazing public transportation and it will just get better. Arlington County and Alexandria already boasts the second largest rail transit system in the nation and the sixth largest public bus network. There are already plans to increase entrances to metro stations, alternative commuting options such as rideshare scooters, and public walkways. When National Landing is completed, there will also be a skybridge connecting the neighborhood to Reagan Airport.
